Are you ready for something different?
AWN Bookgroup is a way to enter a world different than your own, perhaps a glimpse into the past, or another culture. We read and discuss one book a month, which is only a few pages a day.
(Books are chosen by member vote and include Fiction and Nonfiction choices.) We meet on the 4th Monday of the month in various locations, coffee shop/host’s flat. We have two meeting times.
- Afternoon group meets 1-3 p.m.
- Evening group meets 7-9 p.m.
Reading can help you feel at home wherever you are and also relieves stress. Book group is a way to discuss a myriad of topics with others without traveling, and in greater depth, perhaps as a WWII era British woman (Life After Life), or as a 15 year-old Pakastani girl (I Am Malala).
Please look at the AWN website (awnabudhabi.com) under Activities, Book Club for upcoming choices. If you are new to book groups, please give us a try. If you are a book group veteran, let us give your reading that push to extend your reading boundaries just a bit.
If you loved our book choice come share it. Especially if you disliked a book, come tell us. We welcome your opinion!
American writer Edmund Wilson once said, “No two persons ever read the same book.”
